Born 3 Apr 1897;died Mar 1967 age 69 of 4419 Southview Lane at 3:45 p.m. at St Joseph's Hospital, having been ill for two weeks. Walter was a retired tavern owner. Buried at St Joseph's Cemetery. On 15 May 1918 he married Helen Krantz who survives with three children, Mrs Jean Paulson, Richard and Jimmy Deka.

Walter was born in South Bend, Indiana on April 03, 1897 as the son of John Deka and Anna Klewin of South Bend, Indiana. On May 15, 1918, Walter married Helen Krantz in South Bend. Helen was born in South Bend on May 16, 1897 as the daughter of John Krantz and Bertha Popilek.

Walter and Helen settled in South Bend and became parents to a daughter and two sons, Jean Paulson, Richard Deka and James ("Jimmy") Deka. Walter was a tavern owner.
