BREMEN - Janet M. Lakner, 80, of Bremen, passed away peacefully at 2:50 am Saturday, March 4, 2017, in the Hospice House of Elkhart. Janet was born on September 23, 1936, in Mishawaka, to the late Joseph and Gertrude (Putz) DeSmet. On October 20, 1956, in St. Bavo Catholic Church, she married Frank Lakner. He passed away on October 30, 2015. She is survived by three children, Gregory A. (Jacquelyn) Lakner of Elkhart, Jan Marie (Richard) Hank of Granger, and Bradley F. (Alicia) Lakner of Springfield, IL; six grandchildren, Brittney (Tre) Raderstorf, Janee (Luke) Robertson, Grant Carlile, Brea (Grant) Peterson, Michael (Lynnette) Lakner and Celina Lakner; and five great-grandchildren, Lilly Jackson, Ryleigh Peterson, Karsten Raderstorf, Bennett Peterson and Avery Raderstorf. She is also survived by two brothers, Michael (Jeanne) Mestach of Osceola and Dan (Marlene) Mestach of Mishawaka. Janet was a 1954 graduate of Mishawaka High School. She was a devoted member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Bremen. She enjoyed golfing and bowling and was a former member of Sprig-O-Mint golf leagues. Janet was a loving wife, mother and nana and will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, March 7, 2017, in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St. Rd. 331, Bremen, with Rosary to be recited at 7:30 pm Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 8, 2017, in St. Dominic Catholic Church, 803 W. Bike St., Bremen, with one hour of visitation pior to Mass. Burial will follow at Bremen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Dominic Catholic Church or to the American Heart Association .
