Edward Charles Keeling, Jr., 86 years old, passed away in his sleep on the morning of Wednesday, December 7, 2022. Edward, beloved husband and father, was born on August 18, 1936 in LaPorte to the late Edward Charles “Ted” and Naomi (Cole) Keeling. On June 1, 1958 in Walkerton, Edward and Martha J. Ferverda were united in marriage. Along with Martha, his loving wife of 64 years, he is survived by their four children, Kimberly Bridwell of Walkerton, Rodney (Julie) Keeling of LaPaz, Brian Keeling of Walkerton and Ryan (Sunshine) Keeling of Walkerton; seven grandchildren, Derek Laizure, Matt Keeling, Brandon Laizure, Jared Keeling, Cassie Laizure, Alex Kissinger, and Dustin Keeling; and eight great grandchildren. Edward is also survived by his twin brother, James (Sally) Keeling of Bremen. Ed graduated from Walkerton area High School where he met his wife. He was a devoted husband. Ed spent his entire life in the Walkerton area with his interests in farming and family. He worked side-by-side with his twin brother, Jim, on the family farm through the 1980’s. Ed volunteered for many years as a leader with the LaPorte County 4-H Horse & Pony Club. After retiring in 2004, he continued his passion helping local farmers on their farms as he could. He enjoyed antique tractors and camping with friends and family over the years. Ed was a member of the Walkerton Historical Society and a devote Christian worshipping at the First Baptist Church in North Liberty. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at the First Baptist Church, 407 W. Elm Street, North Liberty. Pastor Wayne Joyner will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Grovertown Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, December 16th, from 4:00-7:00 pm. at the church. Friends may also visit with the family beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Palmer Funeral Home, North Liberty is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Edward Charles Keeling may be donated to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 547, North Liberty, IN 46554.
