Dolores T. Andrzejewski, 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2022. Dolores was born October 10, 1933 in South Bend, IN, to the late Roman and Irene (Szumski) Markowski. Dolores was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Andrzejewski, her daughter Judith Andrzejewski, and her brother William Markowski.Surviving are her children, Kenneth (Lori) Andrzejewski of South Bend and Linda (Steve) Waltz of Granger, and her grandchildren Zachary (Molly) Waltz of Westfield, IN and Noah Waltz of Granger. Dolores graduated as salutatorian of her graduating class at South Bend Catholic. On October 13, 1956, Dolores married the love of her life, Donald. They were married for 63 ½ years and were inseparable. One of the things they enjoyed was traveling. A highlight of their travels together was an audience with Pope John Paul II in Rome celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They also traveled to Lourdes, France. Dolores was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother (Mimi). Her family was everything to her along with her faith. She and Don were lifelong parishioners of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, where she served as a room mother, lector, Eucharistic minister of Holy Communion, minister to the homebound, collection counter, and where she helped with funeral lunches. She and Don began and ran the St. Anthony Christmas Craft Bazaar for 21 years. Dolores worked in the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend for over 10 years. She was the parish secretary for St. Anthony's and Administrative Assistant for the Bishop at the South Bend Chancery. She never missed any of her grandsons' sporting events or achievements. She was an avid supporter of St. Anthony School and Marian High School. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Monday, December 19, 2022 at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, 2310 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46615. Friends may visit with family 4:00-7:00pm on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Palmer Funeral Homes - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend where a Rosary will be recited at 6:30pm. Friends may also visit with the family one hour prior to the service on Monday, December 19, 2022 at the church. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
