Melvin B. Humllhrey Jr.

Melvin B. Humphrey Jr., 62, of 3929 Irish Hills, died at 3:36 p.m. Sunday in the emergency room of Parkview-Holy Cross Hospital, Plymouth, of an apparent heart attack. Mr. Humphrey was the former president of Humphrey & Sons Construction Co. and most recently an engineer for Department of Bureau of Design and Administration for the City of South Bend. He was born June 14, 1926, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident. On Feb. 17, 1946, in South Bend, he married Ruby B. Finehout, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Carolyn Piechorowski of Mission Viejo, Calif., Nancy D. Andert of Lakeville and Anna M. Corpe of Elkhart; three sons, Melvin B. III of Walkerton, James C. ofMishawaka and Charles L. of South Bend; 13 grandchildren; three sisters, LaDora Moser of Rockford, Ill., and Erma Smous and Margorie Mann, both of South Bend; two brothers, Ernie and Raymond, both of South Bend; and a stepmother. Clementine Humphrey of South Bend. He was a veteran of World War II and member of Pro Golfers Association, United States Golf As"
sociation, Indiana Golf Association and Knights of Columbus Council 553. There will be no visitation. Cremation will take place. Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home is in cbarge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous St. Matthew Chapter.
