=================
According to the 1910 federal census record of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Stephen Horvath, a laborer in the railroad shops, and his wife Annie had both been born in Hungary and had immigrated in 1902. They had been married ten years and Anna had had four children, one of whom was living, Stephen, 2 years old. According to the baptism and death records of St. Stephen's Catholic Church in South Bend, Indiana, two of their other children also had been named Stephen, one died in 1904 at the age of 3; the other had died in 1905 at the age of 21 days; both were interred in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Anna's husband, Stephen Horvath, died Sep. 9, 1913 at the age of 35, in Ft. Wayne. His obituary said that he had lived in South Bend formerly, and had moved to Fort Wayne five years before. His funeral was held in South Bend: services at the home of his uncle, Martin Hoffer, followed by services at St. Stephen's Hungarian Church. His survivors included his wife and three children. (death records of St. Stephen's Catholic Church; WPA, "Indiana, Index to Death Records"; and obituary) On June 12, 1915, Rev. Alex Varlaky, pastor of St. Stephen's Catholic Church in South Bend, Indiana, married Anna Horvath and Steve Cisar/Csiszar. Anna, a resident of South Bend, had been born June 19, 1882 (sic) in Hungary to Valentine/Vendel & Rose Poragi/Paragi Horvath. Steve, a laborer in South Bend, had been born May 13, 1888 in Hungary to Nicholas Cisar/Csiszar & Rose Kovacs Cisar/Csiszar. It was Steve's first marriage, Anna's second, her first having ended in death on Sep. 11 (sic), 1913. (image of original county marriage records, familysearch.org; and church marriage record as transcribed by Chris Kovach on St. Joseph Co., INGenWeb) The 1920 census record for the family of Stephen and Anna Chizar has not been located. According to the 1930 census, the South Bend household of Stephen and Anna "Czeszar" included stepsons, Stephen and Louis Horvath, and the following children of Stephen and Anna (in birth order): Nicholas, William, Joseph, and Irene "Czeszar". Anna died July 30, 1938. (death record of St. Stephen's Catholic Church) By 1940, Louis Horvath had married and his half-siblings, Nicholas, Joseph, and Irene Chizar, were living with him. (Stephen Chizar was not located in the 1940 census.) Anna's son, Stephen J. Horvath, a WWII veteran, died in 1959 and was laid to rest next to her in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Steven Chizar, husband of Anna, died in 1967 and was interred in Sacred Heart Cemetery in South Bend.
