SOUTH BEND - John M. Piechocki, 65, passed away Sunday evening after a brief illness. His brother, Rick Piechocki of Edwardsburg, MI, and loving companion and former wife, Karen Piechocki Critchlow of Simpsonville, SC, by his bedside in Hospice House. John was born on July 8, 1946, in South Bend, to the late Clem and Violet (Nagy) Piechocki. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Patty. John is survived by his brothers, Rick (Edna) Piechocki of Edwardsburg, MI, and Robert (Kelsey) Piechocki of Reno, NV; and by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. John honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a member of VFW 9820, as a Past Commander and Trustee, American Legion 284, where he was a Past Commander, and the Marine Corps League. John retired from Mid-City Supply. He enjoyed restoring classic cars and trucks. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Friday, November 25, 2011, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a funeral service will begin at 4:00 pm. Cremation will take place with burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Marine Corps League Toys for Tots Foundation, Gift Processing Administrator, 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172.
