SOUTH BEND - South Bend - Joan Theresa Van Acker, 68, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 surrounded by her family. Joan was born March 23, 1948 in South Bend, to the late Michael and Cecilia (Ebel) Rajski. Survivors of Joan include her children, Sherry and Ken Cwidak, Tamara Neely and Nicole Van Acker; grandchildren, Joshua Beissel, Taylor, Brooke, Tiffany & Amanda Cwidak, Mariah Neely; and great-grandson, Jace Cwidak. Joan retired from Notre Dame after 25 years of service. She enjoyed the simpler thing in life; bingo, gardening, Friday nights at the South Bend Motor Speedway, going to Rum Village with her children and family gatherings before she began her battle with COPD. Joan was a very strong, spiritual woman with a love for the Christmas season. She loved her family very much and has left special memories that they will cherish and hold close to their hearts forever. Visitation for Joan will be Friday, February 3, 2017 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with a Funeral Service to begin at 7:00pm in the Funeral Home.
