[N17963] Cecil W. “Bud” Konanz Jr.
Nov. 03, 1947 - Oct. 31, 2017
ELKHART - Elkhart - Cecil W “Bud” Konanz, Jr., 69, peacefully passed into heaven at 6:30 pm on Tuesday October 31, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a prolonged battle with ALS. Bud was born on November 3, 1947 in Goshen to Cecil and Lucille (Siebarth) Konanz, Sr. and married Jeanene Satterfield in April 1978 in Elkhart. Jeanene survives, along with his mother, Lucille, daughter, Monica K. Konanz, son, Jason L. (Gayla) Konanz, their mother Rose Schreiber, his sister, Vicki L. (Ken) Wheeler and his two beautiful granddaughters which he adored, Alizabeth and Mackenzie Konanz. He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil W. Konanz, Sr. Bud spent his early years in the band instrument industry working for Keifer Manufacturing and later in life he worked for Domore Office Equipment. The last number of years he was a driver for Associated Delivery Systems. Back in the 80's and 90's Bud loved to bowl and spend time at Oakland Lanes, earning himself two perfect 300 games. He also had a passion for an evening of poker and Texas hold ‘em with a special group of friends, Scrabble, Canasta and the wild Crazy 8's tournaments with his Mom. Bud, aka “The Bike Guy,” loved repairing and selling old bicycles. He seemed to find joy in helping people anyway he could. Bud will always be remembered for his strong integrity, the kindness and respect he gave to all, his corny (VERY corny) jokes, and his devotion to those he loved. Services celebrating Bud's life will begin at 7:00 pm Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart. Visitation for friends and family will be 5:00 pm until service time. His daughter-in-law, Gayla Konanz will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to Center for Hospice Care.
