SOUTH BEND - Jerome "Jerry" M. Sloma, 60, passed away at 1:24 pm on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, in his home. Jerry was born on February 25, 1951, in South Bend, to the late Bert B. and Dolores V. (Talaga) Sloma. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Ann Sloma. On May 20, 1972, in Holy Family Catholic Church, he married Linda J. (Hock), who survives along with their children, Jessica L. Sloma of South Bend, Jerome M. (Adriene) Sloma Jr., of Paoli, IN, Jeffrey S. (Amanda) Sloma of Evansville, IN, and Joseph A. (Jamie) Sloma of South Bend; nine grandchildren, Michalla, Shyanne, Olivia, Domanic, Zachary, Abigail, Megan, Samantha, Chloie and one on the way, Carrie Ann; sister, Marsha (Michael) Wiltrout of South Bend; and by his brother, Dennis Sloma of South Bend. Jerry was a truck driver for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening and playing cards. He loved his grandchildren and spending time with his family. Jerry was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm today, October 6, 2011, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, October 7, 2011, in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Family has requested memorial contributions be made to the family, for the care of his daughter, Jessica Sloma.
