SOUTH BEND - Albin J. Plonski, 98, passed away at 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, in Inwood Hills Estates. Albin was born on November 12, 1911, in South Bend, to the late Joseph and Mary (Wozniak) Plonski. In October 1958 he married Felice Krol in South Bend. She preceded him in death on April 9, 1993. He was also preceded in death by five of his siblings, Matthew, Leonard and Chester Plonski, Mary Tafelski and Blanche Rutkowski. He is survived by his brother, Eugene Plonski of Mishawaka, and by many nieces and nephews. Albin was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He was a member of St. Joseph Young Men's Society and was a 55-year member of American Legion Post 357. He was proud to serve his country in the United States Army during WW II. Family and friends may gather from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 23, 2010, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, is assisting the family. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 3526 St. Johns Way, South Bend, IN 46628. For those who are unable to attend the funeral Mass, condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
