Carrie (Tindle) Luchowski
October 4, 1946 ~ October 31, 2022 (age 76)
Carrie Luchowski died shortly before 5 am on October 31st, 2022. She was seventy-six years old. Her middle name is Hope. She was given her middle name as a gift and it became a theme in her life. Grandma Rosalie was given the choice to either keep her marriage and abort her baby or it was life without children. She chose life thus our mother was born on October 4, 1946. Grandma Rosalie told me (Laurie) that she placed her hope in her daughter as she faced life without her husband. When Carrie was five years old, Kenneth Tindall became her stepfather. This tiny family moved frequently, mostly around Michiana and Fort Wayne, IN. She spent four years of her childhood in California during the Korean War. She attended fourteen schools before her final year as a freshman in high school. She married Ronald Luchowski as a teen bride in 1961. As did her mother, she faced the same dilemma of divorce. This was during a time when most marriages lasted a lifetime. She was urged to give up her children for adoption, but she placed her hope in her children. With the divorce finalizing with a six-month-old and a toddler under foot, she became the breadwinner by joining in the family footsteps of working for RACO Assembly. One word that would describe Carrie would be “Determination”. She provided by herself for her family without receiving one dollar from the government or child support. She worked at RACO for 47 years. I was surprised by my mother after she retired. She said she hated working there. She found her joy in what the job provided. Her hope was in the holidays, fairs, movies and just about any current activity in the community. She looked forward to yearly vacations and enjoyed traveling. She also loved giving to her charities. She was very generous. She was preceded in death by Ronald A. Luchowski (ex-husband), Rosalie Tindal (mother), Kenneth Tindal (stepfather), Kathleen Lee Luchowski (daughter). Survivors include Ronald G. Luchowski (son); Laurie and Bill Bowen (daughter and son-in-law); Hannah, Josiah and Rebekah Bowen (grandchildren). Viewing is at Palmer Funeral Home Bubb Chapel 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka at 6:00pm - 8:00pm on Thursday November 3rd, 2022. Service is at 11:00am on Friday November 4, 2022 at the same location.
