ELKHART - Helen Joan Nagy Tarr, 72, of Bristol, Indiana, died at 3:58 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 4, 2011) at the Elkhart Hospice House. She was born March 9, 1938 in Goshen to John & Helen (Szucs) Nagy. On June 28, 1958 in Elkhart she married Michael J. Tarr. He preceded her in death on February 13, 1999 in Elkhart. Surviving are 2 daughters, Patricia (Matthew) Pletcher of Bristol, Mary Sommers of Goshen, 6 grandchildren and 2 brothers, Richard (Virginia) Nagy of Fennville, MI and James (Linda) Nagy of Goshen. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael J. Tarr who died on Oct. 16, 2003, a son-in-law, Eric Sommers who died on Nov. 13, 2009 and a brother, John Nagy who died on Oct. 11, 2010. Helen graduated in 1956 from Jefferson High School. She was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, a member of the Rosary Society at the Church, a member of Credit Professional International and a member of the Frontier Club. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and grandchildren. Helen was formerly employed at Ziesels in Elkhart for 31 years, Double-T Laminating, Pletcher-Hayden and Toefco Engineering. She retired in 2002 from Atwood Mobile Products. The family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m. Friday at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 8, 2010) at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church. Fr. Kevin Bauman will preside and burial will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Church or the Elkhart Hospice House.
