SOUTH BEND - Genevieve B. Ziolkowski, 93, died peacefully in her sleep at St. Paul's Retirement Community at 8 am on Monday, July 4, 2016, after a number of illnesses over the last two years. Genevieve was born on January 14, 1923, to the late Veronica and Samuel Koczorowski in South Bend. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry, on July 12, 2008, and her sister, Joan Hoppa. On May 8, 1944, Henry and Genevieve were married at St. Adalbert Catholic Church and remained in South Bend for 64 glorious years. They were truly devoted to each other throughout their marriage.Genevieve is survived by her son, Dennis (Barb Kawka) Ziolkowski; along with grandsons: Bryan (Kristi) of Greenwood, IN, Craig (Kim) of Savannah, GA, and Keith (Brittany); and great-grandson, Hunter of Indianapolis, IN. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She had a special place in her heart for everyone. She was especially proud of her grandsons' accomplishments, their wives who became her granddaughters, and she loved being around her great-grandson, Hunter, and receiving pictures as he grew. Genevieve was a graduate of South Bend Central Catholic High School. She was employed over the years at Associates Investment, Hamilton Plumbing and Heating, and retired from Sears, Roebuck & Co. on January 10, 1986. Genevieve was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with family and friends, especially during the holidays. She was always a great dresser, had a reputation for making plastic canvas Notre Dame Kleenex boxes, and loved to have her hair done on a weekly basis. She loved traveling with Henry and friends and just sitting and having a conversation about anything and everything. Genevieve was a lifelong and devoted member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church where she received all her Sacraments. She was a past member and officer of St. Adalbert Rosary Society, Felician Sister's Auxiliary and Harvest House. She was known to help out at the rectory and at the fish frys, even into her late 80s. She loved being around people and playing bingo with her friends. Visitation will be in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. MAYFLOWER RD. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Adalbert Catholic Church, with Rev. Daryl Rybicki officiating and Rev. Glenn Kohrman concelebrating. Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
