Aug. 21, 1922 - Feb. 23, 2012 SOUTH BEND - Mieczyslawa "Mary" Stepien, 89, passed away at 7:58 am on Thursday, February 23, 2012 in Memorial Hospital. Mary was born August 22, 1922 in Cyprianuw, Poland to the late Michael and Wiktoria (Wuicik) Krezeminski. On June 1, 1945 Mieczyslawa "Mary" married John Stepien in Germany; he preceded her in death on August 9, 1994; she was also preceded in death by two brothers. Mary is survived by daughters, Adele Kretchmer of Granger, Nancy (Gary) Reid of Niles, and Merry Stepien of South Bend; sons, Edward Stepien of Bremen, Stanley Stepien of North Liberty, Walter Stepien of South Bend and Richard (Vickie) Stepien of Niles; 9 grandchildren, Ariean, Tiffany, Rickie, Shane, Chris, Lee, B.J., Danny and Steven; 10 great grandchildren, Sommer, Grace, Hannah, Stephen, Claire, Landon, Hunter, Carlie, Shane and Alexander; sisters, Helena Dobzanska , Sophie Nitubic, and Maria Bac all of Poland. Mary was a member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, Harvest House, PNA, and also helped as a cook on Dyngus Day at the Westside Democratic Club where she was once interviewed on the Today Show. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, February 26, 2012 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association , 115 W. Washington Street, Suite 1180-South, Indianapolis, IN 46204. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
