MISHAWAKA - Herman J. Horwarth, 88, passed away at 9:50 am Wednesday, April 6, 2016, in Golden Living Center. Herman was born on March 31, 1928, in South Bend, to Christian and Elizabeth (Kramer) Horwarth. He graduated in 1945 from Central Catholic High School. Herman served his country twice, during World War II & the Korean War, both in the U.S. Navy. He belonged to the Studebaker Drivers Club and won many trophies for his Studebaker Cars. He was employed by South Side Electric and retired from the University of Notre Dame. On September 16, 1950, he married the former Josephine Farkas. He leaves behind his wife 65 years, a son, Christian (Debi Shinall) Horwarth of Osceola, a daughter, Maria “Mia” (Phil) Buchanan of Cedar Hill, TN, one beloved grandchild, Corey Hardiman of Jackson, MI, a sister, Theresa (Bob) Golubski, two brothers-in-law, Daniel Chrzan and Al Suppinger, along with many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Betty Chrzan and Dorothy Suppinger, and nephew, Greg Golubski. Funeral services will be celebrated by Fr. Kevin Bauman at 6:15 pm Friday, April 8, 2016, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue. Family and friends may call from 2:00 pm until the time of services in the funeral home. Cremation will follow. Parking is available in the lot across the street. Memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice, 111 Sunnybrook Court, or Our Lady of Hungary Church, 731 W.
