Sept. 29, 1925 June 23, 1993 SOUTH BEND Richard M. Smigielski Sr., 67, of South Falcon Street, died about 12:40 p.m. Wednesday in his home after an illness. Mr. Smigielski retired from American Home Food Products, LaPorte, and was a former employee of Studebaker Corp. He was born Sept. 29, 1925 in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident. On May 14, 1949, in South Bend, he married Loretta Jurgonski. She survives, with two daughters, Kathleen Mikesell and Sharon Solloway, both of South Bend; a son, Richard Jr. of South Bend; seven grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Bieganski of Mishawaka; and a brother, Arthur of South Bend. He was a member of Moose Lodge 58 and Polish American Civic Club. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Patricks Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Gardens Mausoleum of St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday in St. Joseph Funeral Home, where a parish wake will be at 4 p.m. and Moose Lodge 58 service at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc. or the church renovation fund.
