[N11094] Daniel A. Pejza
Jan. 24, 1925 - Feb. 8, 2015
DECATUR - Daniel A. Pejza, 90, of Decatur, MI, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2015, at Bronson Hospital. Daniel was born January 24, 1925, in South Bend, IN, to Al and Sadie Pejza. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Delores (Klosowski) Pejza. Daniel is survived by his wife, Catherine (Platt); three sons, Christopher (Jan) Pejza, Charles (Mechelle) Pejza, Darl (Ruth) Platt; two daughters, Charlotte (David) Cullen, Connie (James) Rosplock; 12 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Daniel served in the United States military in the Air Force for four years as a Staff Sergeant doing reconnaissance missions during WW II. After serving in the military he worked at Studebaker Corp. on the assembly line, leaving Studebaker to join the South Bend Police Dept. where he worked for 25 years, retiring as a Detective Sergeant. Through that time he had his own refrigeration repair business. After retiring, he lost his wife Delores to cancer. Moving to Finch Lake full time, he met a wonderful woman, Catherine Platt, and were married for over 24 years and has now moved on to his life with the Lord in Heaven. Daniel's hobbies were many: he was a Class A Marksman on the South Bend police pistol team; he also had a love of photography, where he had his own film development room in his home on Pulaski St. in South Bend. Daniel also enjoyed polka music, and had a passion for boating and fishing on and around Finch Lake, where he lived. In Decatur, MI, later in life, he researched and compiled a family ancestry portfolio. Daniel will be dearly missed by his family and the many friends he made during his life journey. Daniel's club affiliations were with the American Legion Pulaski Post #357, D.A.V., White Eagle Chapter 39, PNA 83, and the VFW Post 4054. The family will receive relative and friends from 9 to 10:30 am Friday, February 13, 2015, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am at St. Casimir Church, 1308 Dunham St., in South Bend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial contributions be given towards Georgian Masses in Daniel's honor. To send online condolences, please visit www.kaniewski.com.
