SOUTH BEND - Virginia M. Micinski, 90, of Naperville, IL, formerly of South Bend, IN, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at the Community Nursing & Rehab Center in Naperville as a result of Alzheimer's disease. Virginia was born on August 28, 1921, in Chicago, to John and Anna (Stencel) Collins. She worked at the Mishawaka Rubber and Woolen Mfg. Co., makers of BALL-BAND footwear, until shortly before her marriage on Feb. 2, 1946, in St. Monica's Church, Mishawaka, IN, to Eugene I. Micinski, who preceded her in death. Surviving are her children, Ann Marie (James) Myrna of Naperville, IL, Michael Micinski of Madison, WI, and Daniel Micinski of Naperville, IL; four grandchildren, Rachel Myrna, Andrew Myrna, Emma Micinski and Sophie Micinski; and two sisters, Lucille Simon and Gladys Nowak, both of South Bend. Preceding her in death were one sister, Anna Mae Voss, and one brother, Edward Collins. Virginia was a devoted Catholic, belonging to the Corpus Christi Altar Society for many years, and attending Mass there on a daily basis. She was also devoted to her family and loved cooking for large family get-togethers. There were always fresh-baked cookies in the house! Virginia also loved writing letters to friends and family, and took good care of the birds in the backyard who regularly visited for delicious scraps. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, in Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2012, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Logan Industries, 3621 W. Boland Drive, South Bend, IN 46628.
