SOUTH BEND - Lillian D. Wentland, 96, passed away at 9:15 p.m. on Friday, October 15, 2010, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. Lillian was born on February 22, 1914, in South Bend, to the late Frank and Rose (Lipka) Swartz. On January 4, 1936, in South Bend, she married Edmund "Gabby" Wentland, who passed away on November 21, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Greg Fujawa. She is survived by her daughters, Judy (Thomas) Fujawa of The Villages, FL, and Carol Jean Nowicki of South Bend; four grandchildren, Lori (Ron) Balmer, Gail (Scott) Morris, Gina (Ken) Jones and Scott Fujawa; four great-grandchildren, Brittany Small, Zach Morris, Ally Balmer and Jake Morris; great-great-grandson, Charlie Small; a sister, Florence Wentland of South Bend; and by many nieces and nephews. She was a parishioner of St. Casimer Catholic Church where she was a member of the Rosary Club. She also belonged to the Senior Citizens Club, Civic Club, Adoration Society and to St. Anne's Society. Lillian worked for Inwoods for many years before retiring. She was very prayerful and was loved by both family and friends. Lillian also enjoyed playing Bingo. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, October 18, 2010, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, in the funeral home. Visitation will also be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday prior to the funeral liturgy. Entombment will take place in Resurrection Garden in St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Lillian's name to the charity of choice.
