Robert William Wynegar, 91, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, December 2, in Hospice House, South Bend. He was born on December 26, 1914, in Rensselaer, IN, to the late Mamie (Naftzger) and Theodore Wynegar. On June 14, 1941, he married Betty Jane Martin, who preceded him in death on January 29, 1952. Mr. Wynegar was also preceded in death by a son, David Wynegar; two sisters, Thelma Wynegar and Ruth Gowell; and by three brothers, Grant, Paul and Gene Wynegar. Mr. Wynegar is survived by a daughter, Carol (Henry) Moerdyk of Sister Lakes, MI; a son, Charles (Donna) Wynegar of South Bend; four grandchildren, Don (Cheryl) Moerdyk, Dennis Moerdyk, Joy (Aaron) Nienhuis and David Wynegar; and by seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Wynegar worked at Studebaker until its closing. He then worked as a custodian at Westminster Presbyterian Church, South Bend, and then worked for Real Services in South Bend. Memorial services for Mr. Wynegar will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, December 14, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, South Bend, where friends are invited to visit with the family immediately following the memorial services until 6 p.m. Rev. Joseph Daniels, associate pastor of North Park Baptist Church, Grand Rapids, MI, will conduct the memorial service. Cremation has taken place in the Michiana Crematory, South Bend. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
