Granger - Harlan R. Katz, 82, passed away unexpectedly June 24, 2021. Born May 8, 1939 in South Bend, he was preceded in death by his parents Essi and Lewis Katz. On December 22, 1963, Harlan married his loving wife Paulette in Chicago, IL. She survives him. Also left to cherish his memory are two children, Marc (Marjorie) Katz of Oak Park, IL and Marcia Swarens of Peoria, AZ; brother, Michael (Barbara and the late Kathryn) Katz of Wilmette, IL; sister, Michelle (Charles and the late Mark Modessitt) Arnett of Oakland, CA; four grandchildren, Henry, Oliver Lillian and Parker along with many caring nieces and nephews. Harlan was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who relished moments with his family. He was also a hard worker and retired as a Sales Representative with Sealy Mattress in 2007. The joy of retirement led him to volunteering at the escort desk at Memorial Hospital for many years and to the organizing and involvement with his special group of friends called the Koffee Klub. He was a longtime member of Temple Beth-EL, where he served as Past President of the Brotherhood. He was also active in B'nai B'rith on the local and state level serving as past President of both. He will be dearly missed and leaves behind cherished memories. At the family's request, funeral services will be private. The funeral will be live-streamed, and all are welcome to join on zoom, on Monday, June 28 at 2:00 p.m. To send private condolences to the family
