Sister Maria Xavier Jaskowiak CSC, of Saint Mary's Convent, died at 11:30 p.m. Monday after an extended illness. She was born as Maria Jaskowiak in Poland in 1886. She entered the Sisters of Holy Cross from St. Hedwig Catholic Church in South Bend in 1905, and took her professional vows in 1910. She had been active in Washington DC; Boise, Idaho;, and had been at St. Mary's since 1917.

A requiem mass will be said at 6 a.m. Wednesday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto at St. Mary's with burial at 4:30 p.m. in the Community Cemetery at St. Mary's. Friends may call in the convent parlor until 8 p.m. today.
