SOUTH BEND - Loving husband and father, Michael J. Albano, 88, of South Bend, IN, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2012. Michael was born on February 19, 1924, in Michigan City, IN, to Anthony and Benadetta (DiMattio) Albano. He retired from the University of Notre Dame where he was employed as a chef. Michael also served his country during WW II in the Army Air Corps. Survivors include his wife, Leona Albano; three daughters, Gina L. Albano, Julie Ann Albano and Bonnie (Thomas) Douglas, all of South Bend, IN; five grandchildren, Rachel Douglas, Tommy Douglas, Tiffany Douglas, Devin Douglas and Joshua Suth; and one sister, Kathy Garden of Los Angeles, CA. Michael was preceded in death by two sisters, Pauline Biletterri and Sue Gitano. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Michael loved spending time with his family and cooking. The family wishes to thank the staff of 7 South, "his girls" and 3HV at Memorial Hospital who took such good care of him. He will be missed immensely. "May God watch over you Dad, we love you". The Kaniewski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
