SOUTH BEND - Victor Kuzmic, 90, passed away 9:30 pm Friday, September 30, 2016, in the Hearth at Juday Creek. Victor was born on December 1, 1925, in South Bend, to Victor and Katherine (Busezky) Kuzmic, Sr. He retired as a serviceman from NIPSCO after 25 years of service. He was a decorated World War II Navy veteran who served on the battleship USS California. Vic was a member of the BK Club and hobbies included fishing, woodworking, and was well-known for his ability to fix anyone's gas appliance. He was also an Assistant Scout Master back in the 60s with a reputation for some slightly embellished “Victory at Sea” war stories told around the campfires. Vic loved to watch ND football and track his family ancestry. On April 26, 1952, he married the former Anne Prikosovich, who survives, along with two daughters, Linda (Larry) Hilligoss of Ashland, OR, and Cindy (Marc) Lieberman of Scottsdale, AZ; a son, Tom (Amy) Kuzmic of Granger; 3 grandchildren, Madison, Katherine and Martin; and a brother, Eugene (Mary Ann) Kuzmic of South Bend. Victor was preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine Smessaert and Eleanor D'Haenens; and a brother, Ralph Kuzmic. The Kuzmic family would like to give a special thank you to Heart to Heart Hospice and to the doctor, nurses and aides at the Hearth at Juday Creek for all the help and loving care Vic received. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday, October 4, 2016, in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
