MISHAWAKA - Paula Makielski Dittrich, 76, of Wayzata, MN, and Stuart, FL, formerly of Mishawaka, IN, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly surrounded by her loving family on December 26, 2009. Preceded in death by daughter, Julie Marie; parents, Peter and Pearl Makielski; brothers, Clement and Louis; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth. Survived by Ray, her husband of 55 years; daughters, Lisa (Thomas) Wurst, Claire; sons, David, Mark (Connie); grandchildren, Colin and Erin Wurst, Natalie, Margeaux and Will Dittrich; brother, Robert (Peggy) Makielski; and sister, Margaret Claeys. Paula loved being a grandma, serving as her grandchildren's biggest fan while attending their numerous activities. She was adored for her great sense of humor and free spirit with a passion for golf, the ocean, opera and theatre. Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 31, 2009, in The Church of St. Bartholomew, 630 E. Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata. Visitation 5-7 p.m. today, December 30, at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 E. Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata, and one hour prior to Mass in church.
