Mary was probably the daughter of Harve and Mattie Spencer found in the 1900 and 1910 census of Bourbon, Marshall County, Indiana. She married on March 4, 1916, Bourbon, Indiana, to Marvin R. Tharp. They appear in the 1920 and 1930 census of Bourbon, Indiana. He was a farmer. Mary's birth is given as October, 1895, in the 1900 census of Bourbon, Indiana.
