David A. Strilich, 81 years old, passed away in the early afternoon on Sunday, November 14, 2021 while exercising at Planet Fitness, South Bend. Mr. Strilich was born on May 3, 1940 in Gary, IN to the late Michael and Sylvia (Hudjber) Strilich. He has lived in North Liberty for the past two years. On August 11, 1962 in Ft. Wayne, IN, David and Carolyn S. Berning were united in marriage. Along with Carolyn, his loving wife of 59 years, survivors include their two children, David J. “Jeff” Strilich of North Liberty, and Suzanne and William Ranieri of Orlando, FL; four grandchildren, Nicolas and Sameul Ranieri, Emily (Rodney) Bettcher, and Bella Strilich; and one great granddaughter, Remi. Along with his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Strilich. Mr. Strilich was a mechanical engineer by trade. He owned and operated Steel Fabricating businesses, including Gary Machinery. There will be no services or visitation. Palmer Funeral Home, North Liberty is assisting the family.
