South Bend News-Times, Sat., April 14, 1917:
“Peter Koczorowski, 55 years old, one of the most prominent Polish residents of the city, died of Bright’s disease at his home, 1122 W. Division st., Friday morning. He has been in poor health for the past four years…. “For many years, Mr. Koczorowski was a member of the city council, both as a representative of the sixth ward and as a councilman-at-large….“Mr. Koczorowski was born in Poland June 29, 1862. When he was 11 years old, his father, John Koczorowski, brought him to this country, the family settling on a farm a few miles from South Bend where the boy attended the country schools. Several years later South Bend became his home and he has resided here ever since. “For a time, Mr. Koczorowski worked at the blacksmith’s trade as a finisher and later was a member of the police force. He was employed for a number of years as the janitor of the Laurel school. Sometime ago, he was elected president of the Kosciusko Building and Loan association.
“Mr. Koczorowski married Agnes Budnik and nine children were born, one of whom is deceased. He is survived by his wife, four sons, Joseph and John of this city; and Leo and Nicholas of Gary; three daughters, Theodor, Helen, and Mrs. Mary Lorenc, all of this city; one sister, Mrs. Anna Jakubowicz of South Bend; and one brother, Frank Koczorowski of Michigan City. “Funeral services will be held Monday morning at St.Hedwige church, Rev. Peter Budnik of East Chicago, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove cemetery. Mr. Koczorowski was a member of the St. Hedwige and St. Valentine societies of St. Hedwige church.”
South Bend News-Times, Wed., April 18, 1917:
“The following out-of-town relatives attended the funeral of the late Peter Koczorowski: Mr. and Mrs. Michael Switalski, Milwaukee, Wis.; Mrs. B. Western, Chicago, Ill.; Frank Koczorowski and family, Michigan City; Rev. Peter Budnik and Mrs. K. Budnik, East Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. John Owczarzak, West Hammond; Mrs. K. Owczarzak, Hammond; Mrs. Martin Putraszewski, Kankakee, Ill.”
