ELKHART - Albert “Al” Rocco Simeri, 62, passed away June 25, 2018 at the Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart. He was born January 2, 1956 in South Bend, IN to Albert James & Arlene A. (Phillips) Simeri. On May 12, 1980 in Elkhart, IN he married Angela Marie Bailey; she survives along with 2 children, Amy Arlene (Brent) McClellan and Albert James Simeri; 3 grandchildren, Albert Rocco Simeri, Sophia Marie McClellan, and Samantha Evelyn McClellan; and his mother, Arlene. Also surviving are 2 siblings, Paul (Barbara) Simeri and Kimberly Simeri; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert. Visitation will be held Friday, June 29, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at the Omega Event Center, 2130 Middlebury Street, Elkhart, IN. A private family service will be held at a later date and burial will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery. Father Bob Van Kempen from St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church will preside. Al graduated from Elkhart Memorial High School in 1974; in the early 80's he and his brother Paul started Van Express and later Eclipse Conversions. After touching the lives of so many in the van conversion business as a fair, highly-respected entrepreneur, he semi-retired in 1999. In 2002, he opened Simeri's Beardsley Street Tavern with his wife Angie. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and riding his Harley. He also restored classic cars and raced muscle cars at the drag strip in Osceola. Most dear to his heart was his family whom he cherished very much. In lieu of flowers please send memorial contributions to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Center for Hospice Care of Elkhart, or Humane Society of Elkhart County. Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Published in South Bend Tribune on June 28, 2018
