Mary Kathryn Folk, age 84, of Granger, IN passed away Saturday morning at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. She worked as the Head Bookkeeper for many years at O'Brien Corporation. She was born March 25, 1926 in East St. Louis, IL to the late David and Jane (Roy) Roche and has lived in this area most of her life. On November 2, 1963, in New Carlisle, she married Robert E. Folk who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Linda (William Davis) Myers of Vevay, IN, Georgia E. Benson and Margaret Mary (Paul Marnocha) Jones both of Mishawaka; two sons, Robert C. (Rebecca) Folk of South Bend and Michael H. Folk of Osceola; 15 grandchildren, Edgar Robert (Cyndi) Smith, David Smith, Kathryn Best, Christopher, Matthew, and Autumn Myers, Bobette Shuamber, Frank Savko, Michelle (Brent) Wilhelm, Amber Harmon, Robert Ryan Folk, William, Andrew, and Laura Jones and Nicholas Folk; 18 great grandchildren including Alyssa Smith, Seana Smith, Gavin Myers and Peyton Middleton, and 6 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Elizabeth Mumaw of New Carlisle, IN, Jane Watkins of Lydick, IN, Rita Bailey and Patricia (Jerry) Brucker of Granger, IN, and five sister-in-laws, Nancy and Lucille Roche, Evelyn Davis and Evelyn and Barbara Folk and a special friend, Alicia Myers. Three brothers, David Jr., Francis and Joseph Roche and one sister, Christine Ake preceded in death. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 21 at Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN 46635. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 3-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mary was a fabulous seamstress. She could make anything, including several bridesmaid dresses. She was also a wonderful cook. She would make candy, English toffee and cooked a great pork roast just to name a few. Mary was also well read. She enjoyed all types of books. Another hobby was knitting and needlepoint. She enjoyed and was loved by her entire family and will be greatly missed. On line condolences may be made through www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
