South Bend - Ervin Thomas Zakrzewski, 82, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021. Ervin was born September 22, 1938 in South Bend, to the late Theodore and Mary Zakrzewski. On November 26, 1959 Ervin married his loving wife of 60 years Barbara Zakrzewski, she preceded him in death on October 24, 2020. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Theodore. Left to cherish the memory of Ervin in his son, Steven Zakrzewski; and precious granddaughter, Stevi J. Zakrzewski. Ervin honorably served his country in the Army and then continued to serve in the Army Reserves working as an airplane mechanic while he was in the military. He enjoyed boating and fishing, and riding his motorcycle. He was a machinist at Torrington for 21 years. He continued his career at AM General where he then retired. He was a member of the Bendix Pistol Shooting Team, Chain-O-Lake Gun Club, and enjoyed shooting muzzle loaders. Ervin was a very humble family man, he always put his family before anything else. Ervin will be truly missed. Visitation for Ervin will be 11:00 am to 12:45 pm on Saturday, July 24, 2021 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St Joseph Cemetery.
