SOUTH BEND - Ernest E. Scott, Sr., 87, passed away at 5:15 am Monday, June 13, 2016, in his residence. He was born on June 6, 1929, in Mishawaka, to Walter and Lena (Wasoski) Scott. Ernest was employed by the former Oliver Plow Works and retired from Conrail. He was a United States Army veteran serving in the A.S.A. in Hawaii, and also was a member of Lydick United Methodist Church and its Men's Group. On August 29, 1953, in South Bend, he married the former Mary Dylewski, who survives along with a daughter, Yvonne (Leo) Pierce of Walkerton, and a son, Ernie (Julie) Scott of South Bend; five grandchildren, Cassie Pierce, Angel Pierce, Sonny (Tammy) Pierce, Eric (Abby) Scott and Alicia (Nate) Scott; four great-grandchildren, Kaylynn, Gabby, Tiffany, and Damon, as well as two more on the way; and two sisters, Nancy Jacobs of Monon and Marge Szucs of Mishawaka. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Edna Mae Brown, and two brothers, Edward Scott and Harold Scott. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 18, 2016, in the Lydick United Methodist Church. Friends may visit one-half hour prior to services in the church. Ernest wishes were to have his body donated to the Anatomical Education Program of Indiana University of Medicine. Zahoran Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
