Henry P. D'Haenens
Sept. 23, 1923 - July 24, 2001
Henry P. D'Haenens, 77, of Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 10:13 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, in his home. Mr. D'Haenens was born on Sept. 23, 1923, in Mishawaka, as the son of the late Rene E. and Mathilda (Smet) D'Haenens. Henry was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Karen D'Haenens in April 1979. Henry graduated from Central Catholic High School in South Bend, Ind. On Feb. 5, 1944, Henry married the former Eleanor Kuzmic, who survives. He is also survived by Carole (Andrew) Mast of Mishawaka, their children, Gina and Mark (Jennie) -- Mike (Shelly) of Granger, Ind., and their children, Erin and Brandon -- Gail (Paul) Noeth of Granger, and their children, Sara and Elizabeth -- John (Gayle) D'Haenens of Mishawaka and their children, Jon, Andrew and Joseph -- Jim (Tonya) D'Haenens of Granger and their children, Tara, Ashley and Brittney; four great-grandchildren, Madison, Vincent, Austin and McKenna; and by a brother, Irnee (Shirley) D'Haenens of Malibu, Calif. Mr. D'Haenens was employed as an assistant chief with the Mishawaka Fire Department for 20 years before retiring in 1973. He was also employed at West End Hardware for over 45 years. He was a member of St. Bavo's Catholic Church in Mishawaka and The BK Club. He served our country from February 1943 until February 1946 as a corporal with the 40th Air Engineer Squadron of the U.S. Army.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 27, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, with wake prayers at 3:30 p.m. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, in St. Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
