SOUTH BEND, IN - Evelyn Mary Meller, 93, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019. Evelyn was born May 2, 1925 to the late Phillip and Clara Stachowiak. On September 25, 1943, Evelyn married Benedict Meller; he preceded her in death in 1995. She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Meller; and sisters, Alice Michaud & Genevieve Olden. Survivors of Evelyn include her children, David (Kim) Meller, Susan (Douglas) Kissinger, and Ann (John) Knapik, 6 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Evelyn was a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church where she was a member of the Harvest House and Sisters Auxiliary. Mom was loving, kind and generous. She always put others before herself. She enjoyed garage sales, playing cards, fishing, word searches, going to the boat, and going to Florida. Evelyn loved decorating for the holidays and spending time with her family. Visitation for Evelyn will be 10:00 am to 11:00 am, Saturday, January 5, 2019 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am in St. Adalbert Catholic Church.
