NORTH LIBERTY - Martha "Marty" Wegenka, 93, passed away at 6:25 pm on Saturday, October 13, 2012. Martha was born on March 31, 1919, in South Bend, to the late Jan and Helena (Czerwinski) Harlozinski. On October 30, 1948, she married Clem Wegenka in South Bend. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Clem, and son, Greg. She was also preceded by brothers and sisters, Bernice Zapalski, Andrew Harlozinski, Genevieve Putek, Matt Harlozinski, Stanley Harlozinski and Dorothy Dudeck. Martha is survived by nieces, Lorraine (Dale) Borton of Walkerton, IN, Alice Wierzbicki, Julie (Harry) Jozwiak, Christine (Richard) Urbanski, Maureen Harlozinski, Patricia (Fred) Hillebrand, Barbara (Francis) Skubiszewski, Sharon Harlozinski and Caroline Stoffelen, all of South Bend, Jeanette Wegenka of Maine; nephews, Stanley (Mary Ann) Harlozinski and Michael (Josephine) Wegenka of South Bend; sister-in-law, Valeria Harlozinski of South Bend; and godson, John Wierzbicki. She is also survived by her "special buds": great-niece and nephew, Cynthia and Jim Groves, and Jacqueline Hostetler. Martha retired from Wells Aluminum. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Walkerton. She was in bowling leagues at Liberty Lanes, enjoyed watching Notre Dame football, the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts, and enjoyed gardening. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where Father Michael Winkowski will pray the Rosary at 6:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 17, 2012, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net. Shed tears not for sorrow but tears of joy. As I am now at peace. God has answered my prayers and I am with Him and my family in Heaven.
