A. John Rzepnicki, 79, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 8:40 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2005, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. He was born on August 17, 1925, to the late Albert and Stephanie (Grohowski) Rzepnicki in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. Mr. Rzepnicki retired from the U. S. Postal Service on April 1, 1992, where he served as a letter carrier for 30 years. On April 17, 1948, he married Gloria V. Smigielski in St. Casimir Catholic Church, South Bend, IN. She survives. Along with his beloved wife of 57 years, he is survived by one daughter, Deborah A. (John) Bishop of South Bend, IN; one son, Michael (Lisa) Rzepnicki of Granger, IN; six grandchildren, Brian Rzepnicki, Brooke Rzepnicki, Matthew Bishop, Joseph Rzepnicki, Jaime Bishop, and Jordan Rzepnicki; one sister, Adeline (Fred) Kazmierski of South Bend, IN; five brothers, Casimir Rzepnicki of South Bend, IN; Edmund Rzepnicki of South Bend, IN; Bernard Rzepnicki of New Rochelle, NY; Norbert (Josephine) Rzepnicki of Mishawaka, IN; and Stephen Rzepnicki of Mishawaka, IN. Mr. Rzepnicki was a member of St. Adalbert Parish, where he belonged to the St. Cecilia Choir at the church for over 60 years; and a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2005, at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, with Rev. Christopher W. Cox, C.S.C. officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2005, in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 3:00 p.m. South Bend Tribune, Obituary; June 25, 2005
