SOUTH BEND - Edward J. Witucki passed away Thursday morning in his home with his loving family and K9 companion Ginger by his side. Edward was born December 18, 1927, in South Bend to the late Stanley and Lottie (Klodzinski) Witucki. Also preceding him in death were a brother Casimer Witucki, sisters Toni Witucki, Bernice Lind, Roselie Tindall, Gertude Kopinski and Rita Shuamber. On June 26, 1948 he married the former Jennie Maes in Mishawaka. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Jennie; daughter and son-in-law Shirley and Joseph Majewski; son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Patricia Witucki of South Bend; three grandchildren Arlan Dougan of Mishawaka, David Witucki of Fort Wayne, and April Vasquez of South Bend; and a great-grandson Noah Dougan; sister Stella (Larry) Langston, brother John (Barbara) Witucki of South Bend; sister-in-law, Goldie Witucki of Mishawaka; and aunt Bernice Ciesielski of South Bend; and several nieces and nephews. Ed retired from RACO in 1990 after 46 years of service. Ed was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Philippines Island, and was a parishioner of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Ed loved his family very much and enjoyed doing things with them. They went on vacations together to Florida and Branson, Missouri. Ed was an avid Notre Dame fan and enjoyed watching the football games every week with his family, and golf especially when Tiger Woods played. Ed was a animal lover and enjoyed watching and feeding the squirrels and birds. Over 60 years of marriage, Ed and Jennie had many pet dogs and they were all loved. The family wishes to thank the Michiana Hematology Oncology, PC for their kindness during this difficult time. We also want to thank for their support at this time the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care. A memorial time of visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday Feb 1st in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home 521 N. William St. On Monday Feb 2nd and Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, and friends may visit with the family one hour prior to Mass. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Pet Refuge, Corpus Christi Catholic Church or the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.
