ELKHART -- Malinda Schalliol, 74, of Elkhart, died at 3:25 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 17, 2011) at the Center for Hospice Care, Elkhart, where she had been a patient for two days after a short illness.
She was born March 20, 1936, in Nappanee to Levi J. and Katie P. Miller Mast. She lived her lifetime in the Nappanee and Elkhart area. On March 9, 1963, Malinda married Donald Eugene Schalliol in Goshen. He preceded her in death Feb. 19, 2007. Surviving are two stepdaughters, Karen Shafer and Sharon Kirby, both of Elkhart; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mattie Prchlik of Goshen; a niece, Ruth Mast; and nephew Kirt Prchlik. Preceding her in death were her parents and brothers, Roman and Joseph Mast. Malinda retired from Whitehall, Elkhart, and was a member of Goshen Moose Lodge. She also enjoyed traveling. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, followed by the funeral service at 12 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Brian Cray, pastor of Faith United Methodist Church, Elkhart. Burial will be in Olive West Cemetery.
