Gloria Kallimani nee Psalidas, age 91, of Miller Beach, IN, formerly of South Bend, IN. Gloria passed away peacefully with her family by her side on the day of the Holy Resurrection, Saturday, May 4, 2013. Gloria is survived by her three loving children: Kathryn "Tina" Weldy, George Susan Kallimani and Kristine husband Mark Polimus Kallimani; grandchildren: Gina Weldy, Danielle Matthew Weldy-Valente, James Cara Carter Kallimani, Geoffrey Kallimani, and Ourania and Irini Polimus; great-granddaughter: Maya Kathryn Valente; brother: Julius Betsy Psalidas; and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and treasured friends. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents: Milton and Vivian Psalidas; husband: James; son-in-law: Daniel Weldy; and sisters: Helen Neos, Mary Christos, and Stella Mosko. Gloria was an active member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Merrillville and St. Andrews Greek Orthodox Church in South Bend. Gloria sang in the choir in both Churches for 80 years. Gloria was a graduate of South Bend Central High School, Class of 1941. She retired from NIPSCO locally and formerly worked at Bendix in South Bend. When Sts. Constantine and Helen was located in Gary, Gloria was the Choir Director and began the Junior Choir. She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Choir Federation, St. Helen's Philoptochos Society and Daughters of Penelope. Gloria enjoyed being a Thespian in Greek and English plays. Gloria took an active role in the Special Olympics as a translator. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at Geisen Funeral and Cremation Services, Merrillville, IN with a Trisagion Prayer service at 5:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Merrillville, IN with Reverend Theodore Poteres officiating. Entombment at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Constantine and Helen Helping Hand Fund or to Hospice of the Calumet Area in Memory of Gloria Kallimani.
