Rick Kapsa
Feb. 24, 1953 - Dec. 26, 2016
GRANGER - Rick Kapsa, left the world in the same way he lived it - a fighter. Rick was born February 24, 1953 in South Bend, Indiana. On September 15, 1973, he married Becky (Borich) Kapsa in South Bend, Indiana who survives. Also surviving are his two sons, Nick (Stephanie) Kapsa and Dustin Kapsa; his grandchildren, Barrett and Reese; and his mother, Mary Schlotterback. Rick spent over 30 years working at Dexter Axle in various roles and most recently as a Product Manager. Rick was a loving husband, an amazing father, a caring son, and an unbelievable grandpa. Rick lived his life to the fullest and he was never deterred by his challenging medical obstacles. Rick always prioritized family. He gave them a home filled with love and a lifetime of memories. He taught his sons to chase their dreams and to have fun. He taught them through patience that they can achieve amazing results. Most importantly, he taught them to love each other, to help one another, and to never give up. Rick loved golfing and shopping with his wife, visiting his sons, working on home improvement projects, listening to music, reading, and learning about the latest technology. He had a vivid imagination, quick humor, and a calm demeanor. In the last 2.5 years, Rick was blessed with 2 grandkids, Barrett and Reese. He loved being Grandpa Rick. They brought him so much joy. He brought them joy, too. Barrett (4 years old) shared that “when he sees a cane, it makes him happy, because it reminds him of Grandpa Rick....I love Grandpa Rick.” Like his grandson, I hope those that knew Rick will find something that will remind you of him. When you see it, you will think of him and be happy. Also left to cherish his memory, his two sisters-in-law, Terry Borich and Cindy Borich; his brother-in-law, Al Hopper; his niece and nephews, Jason (Michelle) Borich, Jamie (Leslie) Hopper, Kerry Zielinski, Leslie (Ed) Walsh, and Drew Borich; and his great-nieces and great-nephews. At Rick's request there will be no memorial service. Donations can be made in Rick's name to the Center for Hospice. Elkhart Cremation Services are entrusted with his arrangements.
