MISHAWAKA - David J. Berger, 37, of Mishawaka, died Friday, March 3, 2017, at St. Joseph Medical Center. The Mishawaka native was born April 20, 1979, to George L. & Diann (Wisniewski) Berger, and graduated from Penn High School with the Class of ‘98. David was employed as a Courtesy Associate with Wal-Mart since 1999 and was a member of Willow Creek United Methodist Church. An avid bowler on several leagues, he was also a fan of the Chicago Bears & Cubs, and was excited to see his team win the World Series. David was known for his kindness and his “heart-of-gold”, he would “give the shirt from his back” to help others and he also enjoyed caring for his dog, Buster. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lowell & Audrey Berger, and Fred & Lucille Wisniewski. He is survived by his parents, George & Diann Berger of Mishawaka; his sister, Jennifer (Ryan) Posey of South Bend; nieces & nephews, Collin Caldwell, Kaitlyn Caldwell (who is also his Goddaughter), Carley Caldwell and Nathaniel Posey, all of South Bend, Anthony Posey of Knox, Landon Posey & Griffin Posey, both of La Porte, and many aunts, uncles & cousins, including a very special great-aunt, Lorraine Riley of Mishawaka. Funeral services 11:00 Friday, March 10, 2017, in Willow Creek United Methodist Church, 14010 Jefferson Blvd., Mishawaka, with calling in the church one hour prior to services. Calling also from 4-8 pm Thursday in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family's preferred memorial is Willow Creek United Methodist Church.
