SOUTH BEND - Gertrude M. Bystry, 93, of South Bend, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Morning View Assisted Living, South Bend. She was born on April 11, 1922, in South Bend, to the late Stephen and Mary (Ewald) Kujawa. On June 14, 1952, as Gertrude Kujawa, she married Bert W. Bystry, who preceded her in death on March 30, 2001. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Harry, Gene, Leonard, Ray and Edward Kujawa. Gertrude is survived by two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, several cousins and by many, many nieces and nephews who loved her. Mrs. Bystry worked as a clerk for Robertsons for 45 years. She was a parishioner of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Friday, July 17, 2015, at Corpus Christi Church, with entombment to follow at Highland Cemetery.
