SOUTH BEND - Clement J. Gramza, 93, of South Bend, died Tuesday morning at Morningside Nursing Home. He was born November 11, 1919, in South Bend, to the late Edward J. and Rose (Wozniak) Gramza. He was also preceded in death by 3 sisters and 4 brothers. On April 13, 1940, he married the former Lois Marie Tarnow, who died in 1978. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Sharon K. Gramza of Indianapolis; son, James Gramza (Beverly) of South Bend; 4 grandchildren, Aaron, Stephen Gramza, Laura Lee Garman and Jennifer Gramza; and 7 great-grandchildren. He retired from the South Bend Community School Corporation as Head Custodian after 36 years' service. He served as Union President for the School Corporation. He had many interests, was a self-educated painter in oils, and attended classes at the Forever Learning Institute. He was an exhibitor at the Century Center Art Department. He was well-known for riding his bicycle around South Bend. He was well-loved by the younger people and was a professional clown to them. He was a great lover of all animals. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place at the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home Crematory. A memorial service will be held on April 6, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at the 1st United Methodist Church, 333 N.
