Helen Rose Kreskai Lee

Helen Rose Lee, 81, of Niles, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022. She was born January 8, 1941, to the late John and Lillian (Gorka) Kreskai in South Bend and at the age of 16, Helen wed her one true love, Eddie Ray Lee. The two were married January 22, 2022 56 wonderful years. Helen attended college classes at SMC while working for Fruit Belt Electric (now Midwest Energy). After working there for many years Helen retired at the age of 60. Helen wasn’t one to sit idle though; her quiet retirement years didn’t last long. Eddie worked for South Bend Medical Foundation and the two enjoyed their daily drives doing Eddie’s rounds and deliveries. Helen was also an avid reader of all genres, thoroughly enjoyed being a grandmother, and traveled all around the country with her husband and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Kreskai and Lillian Haines; husband Eddie Lee; son, Edward “Eddie” Lee; and sister, Rita Mejer. Helen is survived by her children, John Lee of Edwardsburg, Jeffrey Lee of Niles, and Kenneth (Heather) Lee of Niles; ten grandchildren, Brad Lee, JT Lee, Brittany Townsley, Hillary Lee, Shelby Lee, Elizabeth Lee, Megan Lee, Josh Lee, Gavin Ahern, and Madison Ahern; nine great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and close friends. A memorial service to celebrate Helen’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Brown Funeral Home at noon with a time of visitation one hour prior. Chaplain Ellen Laan will be officiating and Helen will be laid to rest at Adamsville Cemetery next to her husband and her son. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Helen’s name may do so to the National Kidney Foundation located at 30 East 33rd Street New York, New York 10016.
