[N28262] Janet Jean Wadzinski
June 2, 1943 - April 3, 2021

On Saturday, April 3, 2021, Janet Wadzinski, loving wife, mother, and grandma, passed away after a short battle with cancer and Covid 19 at the age of 77. Jan was born on June 2, 1943 in Wausau, Wisconsin to Alex and Marion Remmel. She married her high school sweetheart, Ken Wadzinski, in 1963. Jan worked as a stenographer at Wausau Insurance for many years. In their spare time, Jan and Ken built homes in the Wausau area. They also built a loving family. Jan is survived by her sister Sally (Jerry) Dunbar, her husband, Ken, and their children Kristin (Douglas) Siegel, Kurt (Denise), Kevin (Sarah), and Kate (Michael). In 1987, Jan and Ken moved to South Bend, Indiana due to a career change. Lifelong sports fans, this also brought a change in team affiliation for them. Though they loved Notre Dame Women’s basketball and were season ticket holders, nothing could dim Jan’s love for the Green Bay Packers. She was a very animated fan who never missed a game. Jan worked as a paraprofessional at Clay Middle School in South Bend for many years and enjoyed interacting with students and staff. But to Jan, family and friends were most important. She loved hosting on the holidays and created wonderful memories for her beloved grandchildren. Jan was the world’s best grandma to Nathan, Bennett, Michael, Alexander, Ellis, and Asher. She leaves a legacy of abundant love and affection. Jan’s family is very grateful to the amazing staff at the Center for Hospice Care in Mishawaka Indiana. Friends and family may visit on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 12:00-2:00PM with a memorial service beginning at 2:00pm at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 Mayflower Rd. in South Bend, IN. A memorial gathering will be held in Wisconsin during the summer.
