More About ANGELIA HOSINSKI:

Occupation circa Bet. 1936 - 1939 after graduating from high school, before going to Washington, D.C., worked with Dr. Hazel Eidson of Berrien Springs, MI who was the first woman coroner for the state of Washington. Angelia assisted Dr. Eidson with the record keeping of the patients when both worked for the Tuberculosis League in St. Joseph County, South Bend, IN. This league existed from 1908 - 1965. Dr. Eidson worked for the league for 40 years. The purpose of the league was to eradicate Tuberculosis from the South Bend area. By 1969, they (the Tuberculosis League) actually accomplished this feat, a tribute to both Angelia, who worked on the team to make the many projects work and to Dr. Eidson who worked with the patients, many of whom were children.

Occupation: Bet. 1939 - 1947, Secretary (Support Staff), for the War Department i.e, The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Atomic Bomb Project (Manhattan Engineer District) in Washington, D.C. As a young lady, she worked in the Personnel Department, and handled the paperwork for the engineers who were working on the Manhattan Project.

Obituary - Angela M Hosinski Ball

Angela M Ball 92 a long time resident of University Park, Md died on February 23, 2011 at WashingtonTacoma Park Adventist Hospital in Tacoma park, Maryland. She died of pneumonia and other complications resulting from a hip fracture. Born on July 4, 1918 in South Bend, Indiana, Angela lived in Washington DC area for 72 years.

She came to Washington in 1939 to work for the War Department, where she met her husband William Howard Ball when they were both members of the Wanderbirds Hiking Club. She graduated from George Washington University with an Associate of Arts Degree in 1946, t he same year she married Howard Ball. Angela worked as a Srecretary in the College of Physical Education, Recreation and Health at the University of Maryland from1965 to 1983. Her most recent position at the college was as secretary to the Dean.

Angela, was an active member of St Jeromes Catholic Church in Hyattsville, MD where she was a member of the choir for 50 years, from 1960 to 2010. She was honored by her pastor Rev James Stack in 2010 for this service. She wrote a well regarded history of St. Jeromes that was published in 1959 and updated in 1986 for the Parish Centennial.For this achievement and other services she recieved the Order of Merit award in 2004 from the Archdiocese.

She was also honored by the Prince George's Historical Society for her parish history when she recieved the Prince George's Day Award in 1987. The Columbian Ladies Guild of the Prince George's Council of the Knights of Columbus named her lady of the year in 1997. Angela was also the town newsletter editor.

Angela was preceded by her twin brother John and her brothers Anthony and Edmund Hosinski. Her Husband William Howard Ball passed in 1971. She is survived by her daughter Caroline A.Ball of University Park, MD; her sons Joseph A Ball of Blacksburg, VA; Michael Owen Nicholas Ball of Silver Spring, MD and Gregory Ball of Baltimore, MD and five grandchildren, Victoria, Stephanie, Bryan, John and Alice Ball.
