[N5096] Douglas Daniel "Doug" Kaczorowski
Sept. 25, 1964 - Jan. 19, 2013 SOUTH BEND - Douglas Daniel "Doug" Kaczorowski, 48, of South Bend, passed away unexpectedly (of a heart attack) on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, Indiana. Doug was born on September 25, 1964, in Dayton, Ohio, to Daniel and Dolores (Herma) Kaczorowski. When Doug was young his family moved back to South Bend, Indiana. On July 16, 1988, in South Bend, Indiana, Doug married Tina M. Willis, also of South Bend. Doug attended Saint Joseph's High School and later graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame in 1986 with a B.B.A. Accounting Degree. Always working to better himself, Doug went on to obtain his Master's Degree in Business Administration from Indiana University in 1991. Doug was industrious and always worked hard. While working on his undergraduate degree he worked at the Moose Lodge where he met Tina. After graduating from Notre Dame, Doug went on to work as an accountant for Allied Signal. From there he became the Controller for Associated X-Ray Services. In 1996, he joined the firm of Metzger, Mancini and Lackner, as a Certified Public Accountant, becoming a partner in 2003. Never one to sit still, Doug was a member of many professional and civic organizations, including the Knights of Columbus Council #553 (past Treasurer); the Michiana Estate Planning Council, Inc. (President); Business Network International Group (past Treasurer); Boy Scouts of America, District Financier Chair; the Indiana CPA Society; and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. But most of all, Doug Kaczorowski was a family man. Doug loved his family deeply. He was very proud of each of his children and was heavily involved in all of their many activities. Because of his children, Doug became very active in Chet Waggoner Little League, eventually becoming the league Vice President and Master Chef of the Chet Waggoner Little League Smoker. Doug was a longtime member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church where he served as an usher. He was also a board member of Corpus Christ Athletic Association. He coached the Corpus Christi School Boys' and Girls' Basketball teams, and the Boys' Baseball team. After his first heart attack, he joined Cross Fit Michiana to lose weight and get into shape. He accomplished this goal with the help of Jim and Carole Turnbo and the extended family at the gym who motivated him daily. An active participant in life, Doug touched the lives of everyone he met. He always had time to help anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends. Along with his loving wife Tina, and his three children, Steven, Nicholas and Mary, Doug is survived by his parents, Daniel and Dolores Kaczorowski of South Bend; his siblings, David (Amy) Kaczorowski of Aurora, IL, Debbie (Bud) Blower of South Bend, Deron (Jodi) Kaczorowski and Donald (Alisa) Kaczorowski of Indianapolis. Doug was preceded in death by an infant brother, Drew. Visitation for Doug will be held 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday, January 25, 2013, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Saturday, January 26, 2013, in Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Kaczorowski Children College Fund/Trust at Teachers Credit Union. Condolences for the Kaczorowski family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
