NEW CARLISLE - Bernice Szilagyi, 85, passed away at 6:22 am on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, in Miller's Merry Manor in Walkerton. Bernice was born on April 17, 1926, to the late Stanley Sabaj and Mary (Derlinga) Sabaj. Bernice married Lawrence Szilagyi on April 28, 1948, in South Bend, who passed away on November 4, 2011. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters. Bernice is survived by sons, Frank (Terri) Szilagyi and Charles (Cheri) Szilagyi, all of New Carlisle, and Jack of North Liberty; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Bernice was a parishioner at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church where she was a member of the Rosary Sodality. She was also the manager of the Mid-States Auto Auction restaurant. A memorial service for both Lawrence and Bernice Szilagyi will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday, January 27, 2012, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish, 55756, Terre Coupe. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, 55756 Tulip Road, Terre Coupe.
