SOUTH BEND - Gerald J. Grontkowski, 73, of South Bend, IN, is survived by his wife, Carol A. Grontkowski; children, Julie Wainwright, Janice Janesheski-Howard and James G. Grontkowski; and six grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend. SOUTH BEND - Gerald J. Grontkowski, 73, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 8:45 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2011, in Hospice House, Elkhart, IN. He was born on January 11, 1938, in South Bend, IN, to Walter and Helen (Jaronik) Grontkowski. On February 20, 1960, in Buchanan, MI, he married Carol A. Morelli. Gerald is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol A. Grontkowski of South Bend, IN; two daughters, Julie (Eddie) Wainwright of Dowagiac, MI, and Janice (John) Janesheski-Howard of Mishawaka, IN; son, James G. Grontkowski of Mishawaka, IN; and six grandchildren, Robb Janesheski, Elyse (Brandon) Frame, Andrea Janesheski, Emily Howard, Benjamin and Alyssa Wainwright. Gerald was an altar boy and attended elementary school at St. Adalbert Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Washington High School. He retired from security at the University of Notre Dame. For many years, he worked in photography sales. Gerald had a love of music, excelling as a drummer, singer and trumpet player. He was a musician for more than 40 years using the stage name of Jerry Grant. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3, 2011, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday. Private burial will take place at Southlawn Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Gerald J.
